About Me

Hello! My name is “Sally”. I’m 28, newlywed, and I have health issues.

A little bit about me.

On April 17th, 2016, I was admitted to the hospital with chest pain and an elevated blood pressure. 171/111.

Upon my admission, and after some testing, I was not prepared for the results.

Not only did I have high blood pressure, but I also had stage 4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and anemia.

Now the anemia, I already knew about. I was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia pretty much at birth. Thankfully, I’ve been blessed in my life to have suffered little to no issues because of it.

The real shocker was an ultrasound that showed that I only have one kidney.

I was floored. I felt perfectly healthy, was urinating regularly, etc. I literally had no symptoms of any kidney issues.

Needless to say all of this sent me into a tailspin. Between medication, diet, and overall health I received so much information during my 48 hour admission.

I, like many people in these situations, turned to the internet for answers. Unfortunately, I had a hard time finding the information I needed.

I’m hoping to change that.

I intend to make this blog a resource for others like me, 20/30 somethings suddenly faced with compounded diseases. However, I’m sure much of the information I share will be helpful to anyone suffering from any one or all of these conditions.
